Lyrics
Well sometimes I think that I have had a pretty easy life
But then my mom goes to the hospital and I’m like Jesus fucking Christ
I wasn’t ready, for this just yet
Then she’s getting better slowly then she’s getting worse so fast
Sometimes life takes out a baseball bat and knocks you on your ass
And you’re just trying, to keep your shit together
And if you saw me on the street you wouldn’t know a thing was wrong
You’d just think ‘damn, that guy is handsome’ then you’d keep moving along
And if I met you in a room I couldn’t see it in your eyes
If you were struggling with grief or trying not to cry
So I’ll treat my fellow humans with kindness and with grace
And try not to make their burdens any heavier today
Cause everybody is going through something
Yes everybody is going through something
Yes everybody is going through something
So don’t be a dick
Well most days I think that parenting’s a pretty awesome ride
But then my daughter goes on birth control and I’m like jesus fucking christ
I wasn’t ready, for this conversation
Then she’s making her own choices and we’re hoping that they’re good
Hoping lessons that we taught her are doing what they should
But we’re not sleeping, tossing and turning
And if you saw me on the street you wouldn’t know that I was stressed
You’d just look me up and down and think ‘that guy looks his best’
And if I met you in a room I wouldn’t have a single clue
How well your day’s been going or the world’s been treating you
So let’s treat our fellow humans with kindness and with grace
And try not to make their burdens any heavier today
Cause everybody is going through something
Yes everybody is going through something
Yes everybody is going through something
So don’t be a dick
I’m sorry if my choice of saying “fuck” has made you sad
I don’t write it to offend or to make anyone mad
It just captures the feeling that life gives me some days
And helps me to express myself when things don't go my way
Well my mom is doing OK and I’m not a grandpa yet
Guess this life is giving me about what I should expect
So I’ll keep trucking and doing my best
And if you see me on the street, please don’t be shy
Please stop and say hello instead of walking by
And if I meet you in a room I’ll be sure to shake your hand
Because once we know each other then our friendship can expand
Yes we’ll meet our fellow humans with kindness and with grace
And try not to make their burdens any heavier today
Cause everybody is going through something
Yes everybody is going through something
Yes everybody is going through something
So don’t be a dick
